Well, okay, technically it's in the afternoon, but my daughter is getting married tomorrow. We had the rehearsal yesterday.
From the time she was born, I was in awe of her. How something so beautiful and amazing could be placed in my care, continually astounded me. She has been my lifesaver, my teacher, my lovebug, my right hand, my best friend, my confidant, one of the great loves of my life, and to say that I am honored and proud to be her mom does not do justice to the depth of how I feel about this lovely creature..
She graduated from college with honors just last month, and tomorrow, she is going to begin a whole new chapter of her life with someone she loves very much. She and her soon-to-be hubby have known one another for 7 1/2 years, and have been dating for 4 1/2 of those. He's a great dad to the kids, and they adore him. These two make amazing parents, and have been through so much together. They make a great team.
This handsome fella is my first grandchild. He'll be ten years old this December. He's the ring-bearer of the party.
We have a special bond for a variety of reasons. I adore that child beyond anything words could ever express. If I could have chosen any human being on the planet to be my first grandchild, it would have been him. So, this song is extremely special to me, because of the words, "I Choose You". This is the song he selected for his dance with me at the reception. Gods, I love that kid :)
My granddaughter is the mini-me of my mini-me. We joke that we keep on cloning ourselves. She will be the lovely flower girl. She is spunky and dramatic and everything a grandmother could hope for in a little girl.
During the rehearsal last night, she began tearing up while her mom and dad practiced their vows. She looked over at me and whispered, "I'm so excited! I wish they'd just do this RIGHT NOW!" Her song selection for dancing with me is "Call Me Maybe" (ROFL I adore her).
This wedding is going to be officiated by one of my favoritest witches in the whole world. My beloved Amy Blackthorn:
The ceremony she designed is absolutely amazing., and you know what else? She brought me some of her Blackthorn's Hoodoo Blends Fiery Wall of Protection Tea last night! Yes, I squealed in delight at getting to see her AND getting my favorite tea!
Not only do we have these beautiful people getting married, and a stunning, brilliant officiant, but take a look at this gorgeous array of bridesmaids:
My daughter, Lyssa (of course, I'm a bit biased, but she IS stunning); my adopted daughter, Carlotta (MoH and best friend of my daughter since she was 14); and Natalie (another bff who's been a lovely friend throughout her college years). If I had to choose the perfect group of bridesmaids to be in a wedding party, I couldn't do any better than this beautiful trio right here!
The bride will be given away by this dapper young man to whom I also gave birth ;)
I don't have photos of the groomsmen, but I had the opportunity to meet them last night. Let's just say that my soon-to-be son-in-law has wonderful taste in friends.. and a life-partner ;)
Bonus: The beautiful and amazing Sam Curtin Dambach is going to be tweeting out photos of the wedding using the hashtag #cherryblossomnuptials.
This is going to be a truly lovely night to remember. They are getting married on the Summer Solstice. What an auspicious day to bless their union with fertility, longevity and happiness! I will be the one in the front row grabbing up all the tissues, and wishing them all the best of success in every aspect of their lives.
